Cheap Blaster

Heyy guys, im new here.

I just picked up this blaster from one of my buddies for 300 bucks, which i think was a great price. I havent had to much problems with it, however it seems that when i ride it for more than a half hour, it gets tired and dies out for a minute and starts back up. Also, by ear, you can tell its idoling a little higher than it should. Also, does anyone know what year it is? Any ideas whats going on here?

where you put the gas? LOL
it might be in need of a topend rebuild, ask your buddy if/when the last rebuild was.
if you want to do your own work on it, get a clymers manual. the clymers also has the breakdown of how to tell the year by the VIN.

lol nice to meet you too trailrider, no aha, i took the picture right after i cleaned the petcock, so i DO infact have a tank thank god hahaha

The year is the tenth letter/number of the VIN.

1988 = J
89 = K
90 = L
91 = M
92 = N
93 = P
94 = R
95 = S
96 = T
97 = V
98 = W
99 = X
2000 = Y
2001 = 1
2002 = 2
2003 = 3
2004 = 4
2005 = 5
2006 = 6

could you tell me where the vin# is?..i just bought a quad that was powder coated and i cant find the #..thanks

if i rememebr right it is on the left side of the frame (shifter side)under the engine. forward of the footpeg mounts.
