my thumb throttle is messed up it only has about an inch of play and it used to have like 2. I tried adjusting it by actually messing with the bolt in the thumb throttle casing and i checked in the carb to see if it was getting hung up on something but it was no go. It is really annoying and feels awkward any tips?

How much use has the cable had? Did it deteriorate over time?

Maybe a stretched cable?

Have yo adjusted the pinch bolt on the thumb throttle to take up the slack?

Is there any obvious slack on te cable?

no the problem is there is not enough slack, the cable just got shorter somehow pretty much.

So what you are aying is; you only have half the (or less) the ammount of travel on the throttle, not what I thought, you had a lot of slack and the rest throttle!

Have stripped the thumber down to see if sone crap is in there?

I would also check your slide in the carb. pull the air filter and look in the carb. when you move the throttle, cables don't shrink, they stretch.

I had this happen to me, over time the little threads broke apart in the middle of the cable, they bent and hooked onto eachother making it over all shorter. Pull out your cable and pull from both ends to see if you can get it to stretch any, if it does then get a new cable.

i know it could not have shrunk, it just seems that way its not getting caught on anything in the carb. I'll order up a new cable. anyone know the avg. cost of one?
