So I just put a 426 kit with stg 1 cam in my 400ex and I bought a dyno jet kit which came with stg 1 and stg 2 jets. They said for stg 1(airbox lid on) to run a 146 mainjet with the needle on the on grove 3 and the fuel mixture screw 3.5 turns out. So I tryed that and it ran great... like I mean I couldnt believe the difference that the 426 kit made, but the day after I got curious about running the stage 2 jetting(airbox lid off). So the next day I took off the airbox lid and threw in the 170 mainjet like they suggested and hit the trails for the afternoon. My first thought was that I couldnt really notice if the difference was good or bad, but after I let my girlfriend take it for a rip we both agreed that it seemed less responsive . Aside from the throaty sound I think I like running with stg 1 specs better. I'm sure a lot of people run without their lid on, so I was just curious what you all thought.

170 sounds way too big, I have a 440 and it's jetted perfect with a 168 main jet. Try a 160 or 162 main ok.

are you running dyno jets cause I'm pretty sure that the sizing is a bit different in other makes, I'll try it out tomorrow tho just to see.

yeah I think the dyno jets are different than the kehin jets. Are you running a stock filter? Running mine with a k&n and lid off makes a huge diff.
