I currently have a 400ex with a slip on, k&n, filter, and jet kit, which i love for the tight tricky trails i ride, but i'm looking for a screamer for the easier trails and pits. And at the same time i dont want to spend a ton of money, and i kinda want a project bike. I kno someone is selling an 88' quadracer 250 and its right in my price range and it runs. I will going to check it out within the next few weekends. But i'm not sure what to look for. did they have any common problems that i should look out for, like i remember a buddy of mine who would go through a set of carrier bearings every couple months with his quadzilla, is the 250 the same way? and the other thing im wondering, is the performance going to be that much better than my 400. I want something that i can run with the 450's on in a drag.

so far in a short drag on grass theyve been tied, but i have a feeling that the quadracer is going to eat it up once it gets going, i havent been able to get it into 4th gear yet, and it spin through second. i love it, its a lot of fun. but when i get back on my 400ex it feels like a cadillac.

My 250 comes out of the hole best when starting in 2nd gear. I've only replaced my carrier bearings once since I bought it in Feb of 1992!
