My buddy has a 05 TLD and when you are runnin it full throttle its like it hits a certain rpm in every gear and just starts stuttering like its bouncing off the rev limiter or somethin so you gotta let off. Its def not even close to rappin out. Any ideas??? thanks

check the etc (electronic throttle control) in the thumb throttle. I am not sure if preds have this, but if its anything like my scrambler, there are 2 metal contacts in there and you have to have the throttle cable adjusted right otherwise these metal contacts touch and kill the bike.

did it just start doing it when the weather got warmer.........Id say its probably jetting.....but the throttle thing is pretty common too. Id start with the etc because it will only take a second to look at after you pull the cover off.

Well I tried the etc, that was not the answer. As far as jetting.. the quad has full exhaust and drop in K&N... it was at a 157. That sounded lean to me compared to what others were runnin. I jumped it to 170 main for him. air fuel screw bout 3 turns out. It did this with both set ups though... It seems to only do it while your moving to... thanks so far guys!!

170 seems really rich for a closed box air system.....155 seems like it would be closer. 170 (165-175) would generally be what you would shoot for with an open air element...JMO

The plug was very white with the 157...

check all your carb connections to make sure youre not sucking in extra air somewhere. What is your needle & a/f set at?

yeah theyre good for that. I let them adjust my valves once and when I went to do it the next time 2 out of the four valve cover bolts where trashed.
as far as the carb screw go, I had to use an impact drive to get the screws out and then replace them with stainless allen heads.
