it blew shrapnal(sp?) through my radiator.

:(

and it broke all 4 of my cases, crank of course, my 300 dollar piston with 5 hours on it is probably destoyed, but oh well $H!T happens and you learn from your mistakes.

Ouch, that is some crazy damage! How did the bearings fail? What brand bearings did you get?

well, i forgot to add that they were the stock bearings wiht about 250 hours and i never replaced them, its my fault. but oh well.

Dude i feel so bad for you. It must have took a while to pollish all the cases like that.

good luck on the next rebuild

exrider272, haha, yeah it wasnt pretty, and made a pretty nasty noise, it really got screwed :(, my dad new the day it happened, because he hadnt left yet. but he was pretty pissed, but he wasnt as mad i thought he would be.

kawie fan, yeah i have about 25-30 hours polishing the engine, and about 5 hours run time.

hondamaster, my friend has a yfz that blew the crank as well, before mine did, but i have had some more minor problems with my bike than he has

idk, what im going to do with it. i think that i may part it out, and buy a CRF 450, thats what i really want to do. or i may rebuild the bottom end. with a hot rods +3mm stroker. but its kinda up to my dad

Rebuild it;)

Or ditch the engine, and look for another. Whether its a CRF engine (higher compression) or another 450r engine.

It'd cost alot to rebuild the entire motor, with the cases like that. Probably better off looking for another complete motor.

or i can just rebuild the bottom end that exploded, buy another 12.5:1 piston, keep my ported head with ferrea intake valves, 1+mm kibblewhite exhaust valves, and re use my stage 2 cam, and buy new cases, and stroke, i will try to buy a 15:1 piston this time, because when i stroke it i would have to run a lil race gas anyways, and when the stroker crank and the 15:1 piston is combined, it would have a compression ration of 16:1, and if i buy a new carb, i would be making close to 65hp. :macho

u might wana check stuff out with that crack before u go out buying high compression pistions.... cuz i now on most strokers u cant runn really high compression cuz it will it will hit the vavles and other stuff... like my brother-in-laws 400ex drag bike from the races with the 460 stroker hes only runnin 11:1 put hes goin to try to run a 12:1 next year if clearence works out..

exrider272, the piston i would be running works great with a stroker crank, the guy who does my porting and designed my piston had mad a few 450rs with 16:1 compression. the piston i have and will continue to run, has formula one technology and fits into my vavles that are dished. i wlll post a pic of it.

High maintaince & low riding hours, going that way, about 20-30 hours. Unless you are doing some serious racing put the stock 12-1 & put your money into the suspension. you will be a lot faster that way.

that 12.5:1 isnt stock compression, 10.5:1 is, and i cant run stock pistons because of my valves. and i drag race buddy. suspension is like 40 bucks
