Rebuild Done, then undone.

well i just finished up my rebuild, but then my crank bearings failed, and blew the cases to crap. but i have some pics of it, its dirty but i dont want to wash it with a big hole in my engine.

it blew shrapnal(sp?) through my radiator.:(

and it broke all 4 of my cases, crank of course, my 300 dollar piston with 5 hours on it is probably destoyed, but oh well $H!T happens and you learn from your mistakes.

How many times is it gonna take for people to realize that they NEED to replace the crank bearings every so often? All I see in here is threads about peoples motors blowing up. 95% of the time it is preventable.

haha, yeah i diffentaly learned my lesson, so everyone reading please replace crank bearings.

Thanks man. Good luck getting your motor back together. If you decide to rebuild it I think I have 2 outer cases that are good for an 04/05 that I could part with.

That pic sure looks familiar. The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. My crank bearings didn't fail, the freaking rod broke and punched a hole out the front. The cases,right sidecover,counter balancer,rod,crank,cylinder, and piston was destroyed. The head,left side cover and trans were still good.lol Good luck on the rebuild.

You can have them for free, if you decide to rebuild. Ill have to dig them out and see if there is anything wrong with them if you are serious.

well, i just got a guy interested in the quad as a roller, if you want to give those cases to me, ill take them and rebuild the engine and sell it. but hey its your decision, its not technically rebuilding the quad. but im trying to sell it so i can get a CRF.

probably not, im looking around for a bottom end. and i may be building a 500r, because my cylinder cracked. piston is in okay condition but has a scratch, idk if it is reusable. \

Oh btw it wasnt the crank bearings that went on this thing, the rod bearing went and cause the rod to break by the bearing and thats what happened.
