I picked up a '99 400EX a couple months ago with a 440 kit, stageII Hotcams(I think), K&N and Yoshi RS-3 exhaust. It also has a Moose ignition box on it. Is this a good CDI? Anybody have any info on it? I read somewhere it doesn't have a rev limiter. Would it be worth the money to switch to the Curtis Sparks or other brand or are they all about the same? Thanks.

im not positive so take this for what its worth..

but my guess is the moose CDI is just a relabled xr250 cdi, which is what alot of the companys use for the 400ex ( white brothers and many more)

and i do belive sparks makes there own, but if your not having issues with the moose then id stick with that because even with the sparks cdi you will have the same rpm increase,

i mean if you want to squeeze every ounce of power out of your 440 then you could look into the high end CDI's such as MSD.

but in this case i say leave well enough alone

just my opinion of course

So far no issues. I'd heard some aftermarket CDI's make it hard to start but it seems to start fine.
