I have a kfx440 with 13:5:1 piston 400ex air boot, uni filter with the lid off, hot cams and a full pro circuit exhaust with an FCR carb off a yz450f. Im runnin a 42 pilot a 170 main and the needle on the third clip. When I try to start it it starts to flood itself and then it wont start, but if I feather the throttle alot when trying it will eventually start. Any help greatly appreciated, Thanks.

ive got a 435 myself. I just had the motor bumped up and when i try to start, nothing wants to start. The starter turns everything and i get puffs out the exhaust but it needs rejetting. Yours may need slightly rejetting. check all your cables also.

i dont know if you've checked your valves but thats a biggie as far as it being easy to start.
you can call it just my opinion but a 42 pj is a bit on the lite side and a 170 a touch heavy,i'm say that as i have nearly the same modds and i have had mine on a dyno with AF

I checked my valves and one of my intake valves has no clearance. but this dosent makes since because when I put the shim in it had correct clearance but after a few rides I have no clearance. What could be causing this?

Try shimming it a little loose and see what happens.

I took my head into a local shop and they said the valve was shot, so im havin new valves and springs put in and having it ported and polished.
