is there another cable off any other bike that will fit? I need a longer one because where it runs through the headers it keeps melting mine. any help would be appreciated.

Buy a new OE Honda cable, they're about 25 bucks. Why try to make one fit when the right one is so cheap?

If your cable is melting then either the little bracket that holds it in place between the header pipes has broken off been bent, or was removed.

did HMF ever fix their headers hitting the clutch cable? or do you still have to flip the bracket?

hmf flattened their header which helped, i have flipped the bracket . the outer shell of the cable doesn't melt, but after one ride on a new cable it become hard to pull. i think it is melting the inner lining of the cable housing making harder to pull. i have tried the 300ex cable also, like someone said there is just too much adjustment there. anybody tried a 250x cable?

The 300ex cable works with some modification. You have to move the bracket forward and flip it end for end. You end up with one bolt holding it and the rest hanging in mid air. It will work fine that way but I modified it so that one of the motor mount bolts will hold the front of it. The 300ex cable is long enough so you can come down the frame rail and avoid the exhaust all together.

thats what i was looking for. i had tried a 300ex cable before but never thought about flipping the bracket, without doing that there is too much cable. thanks.
