Well my buddy was going riding yesterday and I wasn't really feeling like riding, just helping him out with some jumps and turns, but I brought my bike and gear along with me. My buddy ended up tweaking his ankle about an hour in, so no one was riding. I figured I'd just go out a ride around. For a while I just had boots and a helmet and street clothes. I started riding a lot better and felt good, so I went and geared up. I was hitting almost everything on the track but the one tripple, last double in a rythm section, and a huge single to table top. Well I was going through the rythm section awesome and thought to myself, I'm going to try the last double. I had too much speed, over shot the first double, nailed the second one and perfectly cased it. It kicked me up over the bars, head first into the ground and the bike bent me in half. My feet touched my helmet. They said I got up and shut my bike off, but I don't really remember that. I just remember everyone coming over to me. I cracked my helmet in about 10 places and somehow put a huge crease in my goggle lens. Well went to the hospital and they did a lot of scans and xrays. I broke my T9 and L1 Vertebrae. I'll be in a back brace for a few months. Thank god for my leatt though. It worked perfectly!

Here are some of the pics they got when I was in street clothes. I was feeling awesome though.

That sucks to hear, but glad you're not paralyzed or anything...it could have been much worse for you. I wish you a speedy recovery :)

Sucks man.
Thank god you had the insight to gear up before hitting the track hard though.

From the looks of that helmet and goggles, they certianly did their job as well.

I hope you have a very speedy recovery.

Yah thank god I did put all my gear on... especially my leatt. That was the best $400 I've ever spent. Glad I had good quality stuff too. The leatt worked perfect. I felt it stop my head and neck as soon as I hit the ground. Well I still have an extra visor for my 661 lol.

Yuuuuuup I crushed my T7 2/3 of the way. It sucked... I went riding 3 months later because my doctor officially released me and didn't feel comfortable at all. I didn't feel comfortable on my bike for about a year, but now, a year and a half later, I'm back to normal and riding better than I ever have.

Good luck with my recovery...

That sucks man, I also crashed yesterday and on the saturday before. First time I fell I tore some stuff in my knee, this time I bruised my ribs and spine. My leatt also saved me big time because my quad flipped over and the gra bar hit me in the leatt on my back.

Is that all you did? From L1-T7 were involved, but L1, T9, and T7 were fractured. Man this is gonna take a while. No riding on the bike.

Fortunately, yes. :D I was in a brace for like 6 weeks... your posture is going to be messed up for a long time. Mine is still messed up from it, but has gotten drastically better.

yah I figured that. When I got up from the crash I felt like I was walking wierd. So do you have any problems now? Any problems or pain once you got back on a bike?

That really sucks bro, I too have broken my back and it really sucks. If you follow the doctor's orders though recovery will go quickly and mostly pain free(good pills).
What sucks is though it is going to bother you for the rest of your life. I'm 21 and some mornings I can barely crawl out of bed. Take care of yourself man and good luck with recovery.
