valves?

alright my 250ex probably has around 30-40 hours and had its first tune up at 20-25 hours. I think its time to adjust the valves because of a slight ticking in the top end. Also what has me stumped is after shutting it off and then trying to start it again it will kind of backfire and i let off the starter button and then i try to start it again it starts fine. Could this be because of the valves?

Not sure exactly what your problem is but it sounds like the timing is off? It shouldnt be backfiring on startup unless you're lean.

all Hondas will tick slightly, but if it sounds like it's pronounced, then yes, adjust the valves.
