I am new to the board but I have a huge dilemma. I just took my 250x to a shop and had lots of work$ done to it. I was under the impression that the popping and skipping i was noticing at take-off from 1st gear was because of the extremely loose chain that I needed to get replaced. That said, the shop did return to me with an estimate that called for a new chain, front a-arm seals, rear caliper and pads, tune-up, oil change... Anyway, no mention of first gear slipping so i oked the $1000 estimate because it's a good bike (honda):D so I now have the bike back running good but now i have to figure out how to fix that first gear. Is it possible or am I stuck with this?:grr

You paid $1000 for brakes, an oil change, chain and sparkplug????

You can buy another 250X for that price!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think you were screwed. Slipping and popping???? I dont understand what this would have to do with your gears. Maybe a bad clutch????? I 'spose that dealer would want $2000 to fix a $50 clutch.
