Got a question for you guys. I went for a ride today and it started smoking after you rev and let off it would puff out some white smoke. Rings or valves one of the two any help would be appreciated.

Valves or rings would make blue smoke not white.

White smoke is usually indicative of coolant getting into the combustion chamber through a leaking head gasket. Since this is the 400ex forum, you don't HAVE any coolant, so it's sure as hell not that. I need to spend less time on the Raptor forum, lol.

White smoke after warm up, or only soon after starting?

It doesnt blow any smoke when its cold just after it warms up and then you lay into it and let out it will puff smoke. And I may be going crazy, but it seems to be losing power at a good rate.

You think its overheating it seems to have lost power allmost like its runing lean but i dont know but it was 65 out side when it was doing this and had been ideling for about 30 mins and went and rode it and thats when it started

my 400ex did this and it was overheating. It was low on the dipstick for oil like at the end part just there and I was running 10w-40 when its really hot out. I did an oil change an switched to 20w-50. Problem solved

Fox Rider did that cause a lose of power in your case because ive even droped to a 13 tooth front and still having to beat that thing harder and harder each time to get it to do what i want just doesnt seem right.

no there was no power lose at all. If you have loss of power i'm going to bet its your rings. Have you adjusted your valves lately? Do a compression test and see whats up.

Its probley been 40 hours since i gaped the valves so not to long I wouldnt say. And as far as being in 5th and slaming 4th it doesnt smoke with the rpms bouncing unless you hit the throtel

You said you let it idle for 30 minutes... I dont know where you live and what temps you have around there but if I let my 400ex idle for 30 min it would deffinately over heat. They are air cooled if your not moving your going to over heat.

There is no way a stock quad should over heat at idle i can put my hand on the can and its just warm to the touch...and the oil rezi doesnt get that warm
