Check out www.spal-usa.com. For the price, they are tough to beat. Very effective, not to mention cooling on demand.

I switched to 20w-50 oil and I deffinately noticed a difference. My motor wouldnt get as hot and it would cool down much faster than 10w-40, also synthetic oil cools a lot too. Run a 20w-50 synthetic and I think you tackled your heat problem. Still a fan, air scoops, bigger oil cooler, different oil cooler any of those help too.

I would be careful telling people to use synthetic oils. Honda does make an synthetic without moly though, for like $9 a quart. Just any old synthetic is way bad though! Talk about burning up a clutch in a matter of weeks!

as long as it doesnt have molydeblum or whatever or a energy saving label your normally good to go.

not true at all you don't know what your talking about and are brain washed by dealers. I have used 4 different kinds of auto synthetic and have had no issues. Oil with a atv picture sticker on the side is the worse oil you can get its junk.

i have an extra oil cooler and you can feel the difference in the heat off the motor and also from one cooler to the other there is a big difference. the oversized oil tanks are overpriced and arent that effective in my opinion.

I use mobil 1 racing synthetic. Is for transmission, clutch and engine. Is like 10.00 a quart
I also run 112 octane in my 400ex, but I have a 440 kit, and with the 12-1 comp ratio, 112 is what I run.

12:1 does not require 112 it wont do it any harm

but i run 15:1 and use 110

not the best pic but heres where i mounted mine. this is just a cheap universal cooler i picked up at a parts store and it has worked well but i would recommend one with a little tougher construction.

06-01-2008, 09:12 PM
i have seen transmission coolers at advance auto that are a little bigger than that 1. could I use that?

I know I don't need to run 112, I could run 110. But it isn't good to run 87, 92, or 93 octane. I need 110 or 112 for my motor, it runs cooler.

i ran it inline with the oem cooler. i just cut the oem steel lines where they are straight and used oil resistant hose to connect my cooler to oem one. i have had it on there for about a year now and have had no problems with it. it was hard to get a good pic but heres the best i could do
