its a huge debate over which. I personallylike the K&N with outerwears. It traps so much, it doesnt get clogged as much cause the stuff deflects off and its easy to clean. But a UNI with a outerwear is great too

I use a UNI and love it. They say a K&N flows more but can let dirt through if not cleaned all the time.

I liked my foam filters but I like the paper style better. Foam does stop a lot of dust but it gets clogged really easy. I ran a foam filter with an outerwear and it stayed pretty clean. With an open air box lid I recomend an outerwear air box cover because so much more stuff gets into your filter when its open. I went from lid on cleaning my filter every 4 or 5 rides to open air box lid cleaning it every 2 or 3. I am going to get the outerwear air box cover and that should make it so I clean the filter 4 or 5 rides again.

I love my K&N. Never had a problem with dust passing through, maintain the filter and outerwears and the K&N will do just fine.

where i live in PA the coal region soot kills filters.. we cant use K&N's around here... we have to clean them everytime we ride.. so mayb 15 or 20 times a month.. it really sucks..

K&N's are tough to get clean and it gets annoying waiting for it to dry where as the Uni's all ya gotta do is dip them in gas an the dirt just dissappears.. then ya blow it out with the air hose & oil it n your good to go... plus you can have 2 uni's and an outerwear for the price of an K&N..

my buddy has a 450F and he rides it everyday with a couple other kids... his filter is absolutley beat after every ride so he has to clean it.. after you wash a K&N 45 times or so you can def tell its not filtering nearly as well. (you can see through it pretty easily as compared to a brand new one). sometimes on a real hard ride you can put your finger in the intake boot and thers a lining of slight dust in there.... ive never had that problem on my dirtbike with a Uni and my gutted airbox..

I like my UNI air filter. No dirt dust or anything gets by it.

I know after a long day of dusty riding my K&N is coated in dust. Im definately considering getting a foam.
