Wow you guys are asking a lot for 01's!!! I had an 01 rm 125 that I pretty much couldn't give away. Don't get me wrong everyone of the rm's posted up are in amazing shape, but honestly, I wouldn't pay over $1500. I know there was a guy on here with an awesome 03 rm 125 that he still can't get rid of for $1400. Not bashing you guys or anything, but more power too ya if you get what you're asking for. I ended up letting mine go for $1100 just because I needed it gone to get my new bike.

This was my rm...

Some of those are high, but talk to them. Aftermarket parts don't always add money.

I know it isnt what your looking for but its a really nice bike with at most 15 hours on it. The bike was completely rebuilt motor wise back in the late 90's. The bike was locked up in storage from 99-06 cuz the guy was in a lawsuit. It comes with extra exhausts and plastic. The mods are in sig.

Asking $1400

I know you're always told to set your goals high, but $1400 for a 95 rm250 is crazy. A 2003 in the local papers here just when for $1450. It was my buddy's down the street. Not trying to rain on your parade, but it's a little high. Don't get me wrong it's a nice looking bike and I'm sure it probably runs great, but the numbers are against it especially with the market being as crappy as it is.

Not too bad of a deal. Check craigslist. There were a couple of rm 125's for smoking deals in the pittsburgh area. One was either an 03 or 04 for like $1250 and it was awesome looking. Bunch of aftermarket stuff too.

AWESOME bikes. Seriously. I had a 200sx and rode many 200exc's and honestly, they're one of the best do it all bikes you can find. The 200's have some of the best useable power. Go ride it and you'll see what I mean. My only beef was the suspension. For woods/light mx stuff the suspension was alright, but for the bigger jumps it just wasn't cutting it for me. Power wise, the ktm 200's are amazing. If I could have my yzf suspension on a ktm 200, I'd be in heaven. If I had the money at the time to get the suspension revalved for me, I would still have the bike. For a lighter rider the suspension would probably be pretty decent, but I'm coming around 190 probably 200+ with gear so in stock for it was alright at best for me with the bigger jumps but I made it work. The exc probably has a little different suspension (I'm not really familar with the exc suspensions) but power wise you would not be let down. Most of the 200's keep right with most 250's so keep in mind it doesn't have a 125's power.

Edit: PM my88r, I believe he has an 06. Pretty much the same power plant, but different suspensions from the 03 to 06.

how much is he asking if you don't mind me asking. You will not be disappointed with any ktm 200. One of the best all around bikes you can buy IMO. After I graduate college I'm going to buy another 200. I'm more in the mx scene, so going from the ktm to the yzf is a little better at the moment. Yah just go get a test ride on it and you'll see what I mean. I was shocked the first time I rode the 200sx. I thought it would've been like an overgrown 125, but it was more like a 250.

So what do you think of a 2001 Cr125 for 1450.00??

Is that bad or good ?? lol

that's not bad, but like I said, the market around here for bikes is pretty crappy. Lots of nice 125's for $1500 and under. The only thing I can so though is, if you would want a little better aftermarket for them, get atleast an 02. The aftermarket for the 00/01 cr's is pretty much dead. 02 and up is relatively the same for the most part.

400extreme... that's a pretty awesome looking bike. Not a half bad deal either. I got one hell of a smokin deal on my 200sx though. It was my buddy's that he literally rode 5 times and parked. I got it for $1800. Seriously, go ride the 200, you'll be amazed!!!! The aftermarket is still pretty good for almost all ktms still. A little trick though, if you want nice graphics, get yourself a set of 05-07 style front shrouds. You'll have 50 times more graphics to choose from. The 01-04 style doesn't really offer much looks wise, but the 05-07 style shrouds will work and all body parts from a 125-525 will bolt up.

EDIT I revise the above statement, you have the 3 piece style rear end and not the one piece, so the rear style pieces on the newer graphic kits won't fit, but everything else will.

$1450 for an 01 CR isnt bad if you ask me. I guess it depends on how much you can sell the rest of the bike for to determine whether the motor is worth the difference. They are nice engines in my opinion.....

Our motor builder is paying us 600-800.00 for the bike chassis.:D

We cant beat that!!

06-08-2008, 10:24 PM
may i ask you why you chose the cr motor? my opinion from riding all the 125s they had the weakest of the engines during those years. correct me if im wrong i think around that time they switched to the rc valves. Dont get me wrong its only my opinion and there reliable and everything. Just curious :)

and kxrida i know what you mean about the graphics it was so tough finding some for my 01 125 which i never ended up. yeah so i gave the guy a call and left a message hopefully he gets back to me tomorrow so i can head up there right away.

QuadJunkies
06-08-2008, 10:32 PM
Reliability mainly.
Plus, if I bought a CR, then it wont cost me nearly as much since my builder needs the chassis .
That motor has PLENTY of power to get the job done Im fairly certain for a super modified mini quad. ;)

06-10-2008, 08:15 PM
See how low he'll go on it, but that's not a bad bike. Most 250's 03+ are pretty awesome bikes and you can't really go wrong with them. I'm not really sure what the values are on the 250's, but I got my 04 ktm from my buddy barely ridden for $1800, so take it for what it's worth. If the bike really was barely ridden go for it. I mean it's practically a new bike.

Heres my opinion. You could by a 250 for less than a 125. The 125 my be newer but its been messed with the 250 has really low hours so its practally brand new. And you can have alot of fun customizing the 250 where as teh 125 is already done. You have alot of room for improvement in the 250.

My friend has a 125 and when i first bought my 250 i tried his out compared to mine and it was night and day difference. The power was more ridable on the 250 but could do some damage if you werent careful.

Go for the 250 its brand new...

400EXtreme
06-12-2008, 10:59 AM
its not just that. you cant pass up a deal like that. Especially now with how low the market is with 2 strokes. sure im gunna think it over before i go for it. its a tough decision. i just dont know if i will use all the power of a 250.

KXRida
06-12-2008, 04:24 PM
The best way to do it is go ride both. Really the 200exc was the best do it all bike. If you don't have a ton of experience on bikes, I'd end up going th 125 route. If you feel pretty confident go with the 250, but if you're pretty light a 125 will get the job done. That 06 yz you were looking at sounds like a pretty good deal. My buddy has one of those stock and he places top 10 in 125B consistanly, well what used to be 125B. He just has an fmf ti silencer on it. IMO best sounding 125 I have EVER heard. Go ride both and see what you like better. Just don't hammer on the 250 too hard on the street if you're not used to the power.

Go check it out!!!! 05 got the upgraded suspension over the 04 that I had. Like I said, the ktm 200's are one of the best do it all bikes. If you don't like the head light, you can always put a number plate on it! Awesome bikes! For an 05 that's a pretty decent price. Keep us posted on it and the yz if you look at it. You have three very good bikes to choose from. I'd check them all out.

You'll hear mixed opinions about the cr 125's, but honestly I really don't like them a whole lot. If they had a little more power they'd be pretty decent, but as far as 125's the yz and ktm are by far better than the rest. The rm could also use more motor, but the handling is down right amazing.
