I recently switched to an 89 chassis (arms, swingarm, frame). I knew I would need a different linkage set-up and I though that the only difference between the 86-87 and 88-89 linkage was the lenght of the dog-bone link. Is that true?
Please measure you dog-bone link for me and tell me what year model it is and how long it is FROM BOLT HOLE, TO BOLT HOLE.
(sry for caps, buts its very important).
Please help me out on this!
Thanx, Brad

you can still use your 86 linkage with and 89 setup as long as u use your 86 shock.
as long as you keep the shock and linkage year the same you can match any swing arm frame combo.

i think the differences in length of the dog bones is 3/4 of an inch. I could be wrong though

thanx lou, Thats what I was thinking, I've been asking people about their set-ups and they've mismatched everything (swingarms, frames, linkage) but the shock and linkage was all the same.
One more Q, what's the difference in the 86-87 and 88-89 rear shock set-up? like why did honda change it with the new swingarm?

The 86 shock is longer. Espessially after having it converted to longtraval;)
