Warm sunshine and dry track conditions greeted those attending round #6 of the AMA ATV Motocross Nationals! For those that survived the swampfest at Sunset Ridge, the conditions would be far different and the action was intense!

28 Pro ATV Racers were signed up, and it would take some serious riding to make the cut and be one of the 20 riders on the gate for Sunday's Pro Motos

Pappy

Kawasaki's Josh Creamer was in good spirits and hamming it up with fans throughout the day. Creamer is awefully fast and he was showing good speed on the track

Pappy

Team Polaris would be in full force as they join the ATVA series for their second round of racing.

The weather was more then fair, with temps rising to the low 80's. Riders waiting to head to the line were getting the full force of the sun as there is no shade at Highpoint!

Pappy
05-24-2008, 10:05 PM
Moto after moto worked off the gate and turned the Highpoint track into a rough course with plenty of kickers that sent more then one rider off their quad

Pappy
05-24-2008, 10:09 PM
Dust would be dealt with, however most would prefer the small amount there was to the rain and mud at round 5

Pappy
05-24-2008, 10:24 PM
The youth riders were out in full force and made the rough tracl look easy!

Lets just say I almost lost my cookies as I snapped this shot:eek:

Thankfully, his helmet had spun on his head and he wasnt injured. I was positive I was watching him break his neck:( he was up and back on the track in seconds!

The racing was non stop as the day wore on.

Getting crossed up over the large uphill jump can hurt.....luckily Pros like Rath Racing's Rich Stambach know how to save it!

Pappy
05-24-2008, 11:11 PM
The uphill section in the back was causing some issues. The off camber before it allowed no run and clearing the jumps would be difficult

Pappy
05-24-2008, 11:12 PM
Natalie was manhandling his machine and giving it all it had

Pappy
05-24-2008, 11:16 PM
The day was drawing to a close with a few last motos as we prepared for the Pro LCQ

Pappy
05-24-2008, 11:18 PM
The region had received alot of rain prior to the race, and track personel were unable to prep the track as well as they would have liked. During a break in the action, they did a good job of getting things in order albiet a bit wet for the first few classes out after thier work

Pappy
05-24-2008, 11:21 PM
I headed back to the section i felt was the worst and awaited the Pro LCQ. One bad bounce and i almost became traction:p

Pappy
05-24-2008, 11:23 PM
The off camber was pretty steep, and rutted

Pappy
05-24-2008, 11:24 PM
There were enough riders coming off the track that i was on borrowed time if I wanted to get a bit better view

Pappy
05-24-2008, 11:37 PM
The Pro LCQ was underway and every rider was clawing for the top spots

Pappy
05-24-2008, 11:39 PM
I was unable to find out what happened to Dunk, as he did not make the cut for tomorrow race

For Downen, a flat rear tire would end his chances in the LCQ

Pappy
05-24-2008, 11:44 PM
Tomorrow race should be exciting and we will be working hard to bring you all the action. The Pro gate will be full, and the weather is supposed to cooperate again so be sure to check back throughout the day as we bring you live coverage of the event!

Pro Am Production- Division One Heat Races

Walsh Racing's Cody Gibson grabbed the early lead, but defending champion, Clay Holmes, applied the pressure and took over the lead in the 2nd lap, but the pair remained glued together as Gibson shadowed Holmes lap after lap. Holmes would get a breather when Gibson would go off the track, which opened up nearly a 3 second gap between Gibson and Holmes.

Mitch Reynolds worked his way up into the 3rd spot with Casey Martin dropping back out of the top 8, which will send him to the LCQ round.

Yamaha's Thomas Brown charged his way from a midpack start into the 4th spot by passing Kawasaki's Mark Kendall in the final laps of the race, which rounded out the top 5. Also, advancing to the 2nd Moto was Bobby Ross, Adam Clark, and M. Winchester.

Pro Am Production- Division Two Heat Races

Media Allstar / Suzuki's Cody Grant grabbed the Holeshot followed by Chris Bowen, Devin Heimes, and Randy Lehr. At the end of the 3rd lao, Burgard Cycle's Randy Lehr goes down coming around the finish line jump, which sent him flying, and out of the 4th spot.

With Grant out front with a 7 second lead, their was an intense battle for the 2nd spot between Bowen, Heimes, Williams, and Denoble as they were all tire to tire for several laps.

By the 5th lap, Josh Williams took over the 2nd Spot with Denoble moving into 3rd. Devin Heimes and Chris Bowen dropped back over 4 second as they battled for the 4th spot.

In the 5th lap, Cody Grant would go down, with Josh Williams taking over the lead followed by Denoble, Heimes. The Canadian Robert Banks charged his way up into the 4th spot by passing Bowen.

In the final laps, Denoble & Williams swap the lead back and forth with Williams taking over the lead before the checkered flag followed by Denoble and Banks.

Racer Production Press Release
Team MSR/Suzuki/Yoshimura/Pro Taper’s Dustin Wimmer edged out Monster Energy Kawasaki's Josh Creamer to earn the Suspension Systems Holeshot Award and lead every lap to take the win in the first moto of the Pro ATV racing program Sunday at High Point Raceway. The event was part of the ATV Stampede, Round 6 of the ITP Tires/Moose Racing AMA/ATVA National Motocross Championship Series.

Wimmer held off Can-Am's Jeremy Lawson throughout the moto to net the victory. Jeremy Lawson was second on a Can-Am. Rounding out the podium was two-time and defending AMA Pro Champion Joe Byrd, who passed Josh Creamer (No. 9 Team Monster Energy Kawasaki) early in the event.

“The track was in great shape; Racer Productions did a good job with this race,” said Wimmer. “My Suzuki got me out front early and everything went well.”

Wimmer fought through tightening muscles in his arms during the event.

“I had arm pump in practice so I was a little worried about it,” added Wimmer. “I just got tight for a while, but I concentrated on keeping a steady pace and not letting my lead get too small. Everything is working well, so we aren’t making any changes for moto two.”

The second moto is scheduled to start 3 p.m.

LOL, I fixed the PR, and I noticed it was updated dramatically from it original release for good reason, and for an old guy, you have a good eye.

If we're thinking of the same rider I believe it was Chad Raymond on a Honda. I heard he was taken to the hospital and he has a broken wrist and a small fractured vertebrate but they weren't sure if it was from that wreck or a past one.

I dont think its the same guy. The guy in the A class practice that was landed on was hit in the back of the head and knocked out cold spitting bubbles out of his mouth. I was behind the guy that landed on him. It was very nasty.
