Quad Just Shut Off

The other day i was riding my 450 and it just shut off. I Stopped and put it into neutral and checked my gas, it was almost full. i tried kicking it a few times and it wouldnt start so my friend pulled me home. There i checked the oil and coolant both were at a normal level. I have no idea what could be wrong with it so any help would be much appreciated. :(

Well first things to check is if it's getting spark, gas to the carb and third is compression also the year of bike would help. :)

It has spark
I primed the carb

Well if it has no compression it's either valves piston or rings time to pull the head sounds like.

i can tell it wants to star becuase the lights try to come one
It's under warranty until 2009 so im thinking im gunna take it in to the Honda shop and have em take a look at it

Check the valve clearances.

check your stator, my buddies just did the same thing last week and his is an '05,

how hot was it outside, cause mine has been running like crap the past few days and i think its just the jetting, it also keeps shuting off at idle

if you have a kill switch check that mine ramdomly died last week in the 3rd and final moto put a new one on and started right up

it burned up the cam and valves
costin about $1800
but thats with the HRC kit
i WASNT going to buy it until somethin happened and i had 2 have the engine appart and well
now is the time =]

is it costing you $1800? or thats what they said the repair WOULD be? did they give you an explanation for why they burned up? how many hours you think was on the motor? did they check your valve clearance?

If its under warranty you shouldn't be paying anything... especially if they did not give you a good explanation why they failed. what are they doing different that will keep them from failing again if it was you fault?

its costing $1800 total
the warranty went out last year
it has a little over 20hours on it
they said it wasnt getting enough oil which would make sense because
i went out into my shop and there was what looked like a VERY little oil on the ground so i didnt think anything of it and it turns out that the casing came loose some how and leaked alot of oil and i was just goin from my house 2 my friends 2 get some AMSOIL that i left there and it blew up =/

how dose a valve job and cam cost $1800? i put a hotcam in mine and had new valves spring seats and it cost me like $300

HRC kit
K&N filter
and part of the price was labor

valve clearences, mine had a problem when it would take me like 15mins to start due to a valve being left open...shim kits ftw

Sounds like it probably sucked an intake valve. You could have pulled the head off and had new seats/bowl work done & new valves installed for a few hundred bux. You have to keep an eye on those valves man. My other guess would have been a bad crank bearing...that's a little more costly though.
