'05-'08 Plastics on '01????

I'm not even close to buying plastics but I was just wondering if anyones done it or know if it will work :D

plastic styles are as follows:

1999 - 2004: 2 circular lights ont he front and more rounded fenders.

2005 - 2007: 450r inspired look with more edgy fenders and it uses a hood instead of full front plastics

2008: completely different, new seat, new tank, very edgy plastics

my brother-in-law just put 08 plastic on his 00 drag bike.. you got to buy the back plastic, front, seat, front plastic bracket....he used the stock tank but hes kinda gaped aroundd it.. i dont know if you got to or not but he but it battrie and stuff under the seat but idk if u got to do that..

There are conversion kits for the 99-04's to convert to the 05-07.

i have an 02 and i got the conversion kit to the o5-07 look, i like it alot, the kit off of ebay cost's like $550 with everything, front and back fenders, light, hood and all bolts and clips.. etc etc hope this helps

I just like the duel headlight look of the old ones. I don't know if the new ones are more aerodynamic. Plus the older styles match the bike I grew up on- a 90cc 2 stroke made by some off brand called tantrum or xtreme atv or something.

ya i got a 2001 400ex and everyone told me it wont work i baught plastic anyway and it slaped right on the only thing is the head light is a 500 dolor headlight (new style) i baught mine of ebay for 100 though you will need to rig somekind of headlight brackets though i took sheet metal and cut it to the right length and mounted to the frame http://photos-550.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v253/207/50/594710550/n594710550_2953102_4638.jpg

ya i didnt evan switch mounts on it. just went on like the old style.

ya well im in canada... in alberta things are ALOT more expensive hear we went to the local gas station and yesterday gas was 1 dolor a liter today it was 1.29 i baught my headlight off ebay though for 100 bucks with harness and all


o ya Tyson, you will have to switch the harneses your old one you will have to put in the new headlight they swaped plugs around.

o ya and about those convertion kits it cost less just to go to your local honda dealer and buy plastic and then buy the headlight off ebay. i payed last year 360 for all around plastic and then the headlight for 100. that only costy me 460 as the converiton kit is 550 and plus you will probly get cheaper for your all around plastic because your in the states. and the convertion kits come with a extra set of mount you will not need. and if your honda dealer tells you it wont work (like mine did) dont listen to them because i no for a fact it does.

ya man i live in canada to, i know wat ya mean by everything is more expensive....and yes it bolts right up no prob, but if you get the proper headlight mounts(which you should because the top one also holds ur fenders in ) all you have to do is drill two holes in ur frame(no biggie)

ya i was going to but i didnt really put my mind to it so i just made my own works just as well. i never new they held your plastic in but its not to big of a deal that plastic sits solid as is.

What year plastics did you guys stick on your 400s? I thought i saw somthing about new mods to the plastics on a certain year...i might be crazy though. hahha
Just got my frame welded today though! Took it out with my new 450r shocks on it! it rides sooooo nicceee!!!!:D

ya they are all the same thru 05-07, no changes.....so you must be crazy :D , and ya theres a rod kinda thing tht holds the tops of ur fenders in and holds ur light, and i dont think they cost tht much for the upper and lower light mounts....every thing you need is as follows, front left and right fenders, hood, cover piece tht goes under the light and kinda holds it, a few rubber gromets for the light mounts, rear fenders and the side covers(they changed them, got rid of all of the holes so its better for graphics), and a tank cover if you wanted to

mine is a 04 jb 400ex/crf frame. it had the old style fenders on it. i wanted the new style and they bolted right up. i just trim mine alot. the only thats different is the headlight.

actually no! i know alot of people and for some reason they have forgotten how great a hybrid is. and they basically gave their stuff away. i bought it piece by piece.

well im only 20. and ive worked my butt off for that. i had 2 z400s that were $$$ and killed them both. i had to upgrade. they couldnt keep up.

ha nice i always wished i baught a z and not a 400ex but then my freind was talkin big a few years ago and said 400exs are junk so he went and baught a dvx 400 and i couldnt belive my eyes he had more bottom end but at the end i caught up and pasted him my quad only had a k&n filter then. and then one of my other buddies baught a ltz400 and i owned him from start to end but his compresion was messed and valves were out of time.
