Well first of all i'm from Michigan and 2 buddies and I all went and purchased quads, they got 08 yzf's and I purchased the 08 kfx, well to start we took them right off the trailer and t hey waxed me by about 4 links from 3rd gear on up, so a week later I bought a complete Trinity kit wich included fuel controller, air box mod with k/n and the whole exhaust system. The one buddie bought a slip on and jet kit, and the other guy's is still stock I still can't beat neither one of them.......help!!!!!!!!!!The way we ride is snowmobile trails(long straight aways) and drag race on gravel roads (800 to 1200 feet).

You got the wrong quad. Save your money and trade and up cut your lost it will be a lot less money. $ 15,000.00 will not maake it fast. But to help you put a 36T rear sprocket it helps.
Good luck. Bill

the KFX is geared really low for the kind of riding that you do. the best thing you could do since you already got the pipe, intake, and fuel controller. is get either a 36t or a 34t rear sprocket which will help you alot for the long open stretches. I have the DASA pipe, Fuel atv intake kit, and PCIII, and recently installed a set of cams in mine. before the cams I could beat all of my buddies except 3 of them who have alot of motor work done to theirs, and with the cams in I can atleast make it a good race now. all of my friends have 450r's, yfz's, 660's and 700r's. the minimum anyone of them have is at least a pipe. The KFX is not a bad quad it just takes a little fine tuning to get it to perform to your riding styles

YFZ=FAST...KFX=somewhat faster than slow.;) just joking (im going to be ate up for that). ive never owned a KFX but id say gearing needs some work. ive got a YFZ and the only problem i have is finding someone who can beat me:D

Maybe they just ride better? Top end they will get you anyway stock for stock due to the gearing. I've had no issues pulling the holeshot or being side by side in the holeshot in every race I've entered on mine so far. The power is there, getting it to the ground properly is the issue.

It must not be too bad, Josh Creamer has been the top qualifier a couple of times and he was 3rd fastest in qualifying last weekend! Too bad he can't keep that speed up for an entire moto. Even when he pulls the holeshot he'll only run up front for a couple of laps before he drops a few spots. The motor is definately fast enough, as always it comes down to the rider.

Creamer is not running a motor that is anything near stock......

none of them are, but it started out as the exact same motor that is in my quad in my garage right now... its not NASCAR.

Well, Trinity pipe and silencer, fuel controller, with the FUEL ATV COMPLETE AIR BOX SET UP IT FINALLY RUNS!!!! Trinity's air box mod was just not very good....With the fuel atv air box had to turn the fuel up and she runs good now....

ive gotta kfx all i have is a twin air, hmf system and hmf efi. she runs great, i agree it could us a bit more gearing but then ur really beating the clutch to pull out. if any thing, try the 36, 34 will be way too high un less u go to a 15 fr.

I put a 15/37 sprocket combo on my KFX. It was like adding a whole nother gear to the bike. WAY better top end without lugging in 5th. Besides the gearing, you gotta ditch the stock intake. Pull the air box out and take a look at the stock intake tube. One look and you will see why you are getting beat.

cough cough your clutch squeels cough.
in drag racing go ahead take your DS. ill destroy you on the track anytime
drag racing doesnt prove anything. besides reaction time. real testing is under gncc(where the DS failed before the 2nd half) and in MX.
im am in no means saying a ds is a bad quad. but i feel like im sitting so far foward on the ds. the kfx just feels natural.
i woudl have to say. if the KFX never came out or didnt come out last year. i would most likely have a DS in my garage

the only thing i can say about the kawi is that when i rode a friends stock kfx it was very slow. i only have a tc racing pipe on the honda but the kfx felt like a 300. i really like the kawi's and they must really come alive with some bolt ons but i was really let down when i rode his. but with alittle tweaking and some add ons im sure it would be way better.

not really. stock i could make all the jumps and everything people with built quads were doing. 75ft flyaways and all.
i have to say. the power stock is pretty bad. the dasa pipe woke it up ALOT and im sure once i get an intake itll be ALOTTT more.
but in the air this thing handles soooooooooo nice. it doesnt drop in the front or back it stays where you want it to. you can whip it easily and its really easy to move it around in general.
the ONLY thing i hate on the mx track about this quad. is the REALLY loose steering. i love it for trails because i can turn on a dime but on the mx track its annoying with all the damn dirtbike ruts.
i love this quad overall haha

the kfx can be fast. i was on the receiving end of a kfx roost. he had a ron woods exhaust, fuelatv intake, pc3, cam, and piston said he made about 50 hp. he was very fast. i don't think it's the slowest 450. i seen some stock 450r getting out ran by a stock z400. it could be worse for you.

you should call KOQ racing in Mi, they are getting high 50's on the dyno, with their intake , cam, pipe, and injector mod with the proper mapping.

ltr hits 50 w/ dasa pipe, fuel intake, and pc3. it might take more than that to get 50 on the kfx though.

My Kfx sure rips and is plenty fast. Stock form was fast on the bottom end but top end wasn't to great. Now it is pretty fast with my mods.
