I am running an ESR 310 powervalve on an atc. So, being a three wheeler my pipe option is limited. How big can I go without going to just drag. I ride pretty much open fields and dunes, and some drag racing. I am looking in too an ESR 330 stroked 3 mill with the 9 porting, but I am open to suggestions. I am willing to spend around $2500. I am also concerned with cooling issues.

Do you really need that much more power than the 310 powervalve?

What is the rest of your set up?

Is it ported, or is it 'ESR ported'? Sending the cylinder so someone like Neil at C-Leigh racing could wake it up a fair amount over the ESR generic porting.

How do you like that 310 on the ATC? Can you keep the front tire down? I just did mine and only went to a 265. I was thinking of going to the 310 next time but didn't know if it would be too much on the trike. Did you have to extend your swingarm? What kind of pipe are you running? I just went with full FMF because it was so hard to find a pipe for the ATC.

i would recomend talking with somone like the 250r messiah on planetsand.com Pete S. i have had more then 1 250r specialist work on my bike and he gained me a TON more power then my last engine builder.

and he stands behind his work wheither it was his fault or yours.

if you want to speak with him ill pm you the phone number.

i had him do a 4mm stroker crank and report my cylinder redo my head dome and i have so much power now that im going to have to buy a new longer swingarm i have a +3 from 87 length now and im gonna need a +6 to keep the front tires on the ground!

Pete cleans up when it comes to R's and so does Packard. Dave Moore of Dave Moore Racing, Dan Wade of Patriot Racing, and DTR are all located in the NW and very good with R's -- from my experience but I don't see them quite on par with Pete (Piranha or Packard).

I do have a +6 swingarm already, I am running the ESR TRX 5 pipe, ESR trx 9 porting( i guess the 11 porting is strictly drag), race gas dome. I love the motor! Its been great, awsome response with the 38mm Keihin, and yes the front end takes some getting used too, but is controllable with the swingarm. But you can easily pull it up anywhere in the first 4 gears and if you give a little help 5th. I am just wanting something faster! more torque. Hoping for some suggestions. By the way who is this pete and how do I get ahold of him? THANKS!

On my trike, I have a lrd300pv, I go between an esr atc5 and paul turner hi-rev pipe, cr rad valve, reed spacer and cr ignition. It is something pretty mean. I used to have a esr 330 on it, it didn't perfrom so well. I put my stock ported cylinder on it. I wasn't happy at all with esr's porting. Then I got that pv cylinder, rode it once with the stock swingarm and it was uncontrollable. I ordered a +1 swingarm, its still at the point of being too much, but controllable. It will toss you off very easy. I would look else where than Esr, call lrd or duncan. I seen the duncan cylinder and its quite tall, it might have a problem fitting into the atc. Another thing, if you go with lrd, ask them to put the spark plug angled(like stock), it makes getting to it so much easier, especailly if you have an 85 frame. On a side note, lrd used to make a atc250r pipe, they stopped due to not enough demand, maybe another call could make them make it again. They can make you a custom pipe also, I got a quite from Arlin about 2 years ago, something like $600.
