Well RPM and Lonestar both have a true lifetime warranty. With durablue you only get one free replacement. As for Elkas vs. Works Elka is just a better built all around shock. It uses thicker shock shafts, better type of valving (shim vs. ball) and much more. Many people rate their Elkas up there with Custom Axis.

Other than the fact that some might not like the choice in parts in getting are the ones listed all that is needed to widen and lengthen my 400?

Including small stuff what have i left out?

If this is for a 400Ex don;t get +1 forward. Talk to Quad041 but anyone can tell you that on a 400Ex it casues the center of gravity to move and it also makes the front of the quad go up when you are in the air.

O and on then +2 swing arm. Don't. If you are gonna drag race then it is good. BUt for MX you are nuts. It makes you handle like crap. All you need is a +1 or +1 1/4. +2 is too much.

Works Shocks- I hate saying this but don;t get them if you are seriously gonna race. I mean i know Rico will get on here and call my bluff about works but i would not get these. Pay the extra money for a better shock. Elkas are top notch and if ya get them through the quadshop Jeff will hook ya up.

Works shocks are good and all but I would look into Elka's if you have the money. They are a far Superior shock to works for about 200 dollars more from the Quadshop(see above for link) They give a 5% discount to all exriders.com members.

"Eyeball engineering +2 swing arm

First off, You want a +1 1/4 inch longer swingarm not +2. You will also need to have your rear shock re-valved for the longer swingarm.

"dura blue eliminator 2+2 axel"
Their warranty is for the birds. You break it, you ship it (u pay shipping both ways) and they send you 1 "free" new axle. Every axle after that will cost you 175$ to replace. If you bend their axle, you ship it(again paying shipping both ways) and they straighten.

I personally have seen quite a few Durapoo's break, Many were MX'ing a few were Xc racing. and one was in the dunes jumping something that a stock axle wouldn't have broken on.

like everyone said dont get a durabend lone star or rpm r waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy better and there warranty rocks as for shocks go for what you like . every one has a different riding style and you are the only one who can say what kind of shock you need

if you extend the swingarm you should move the a-arms forward too.

You don't need +1 a-arms if you have the +1 1/4 swingarm. Talk to Mark Baldwin about it.

To answer your real question....while you have everything apart you might as well replace the brake fluid and pads and any bolts, bushings, or bearings that don't come with your new coponents

ok im not planning on racing i just want the stuff. I see the point about the axel ill prolly switch that and get the RPM axel instead. As for the shocks i dont have the extra money to pay for elkas.

Heres my list
Works at steelers w/ rez
JD perf +2 a arms
Eyeball engeneering +1.25 or +2 swing arm
Axcalibur axel +4
Axel lock nut
Renthal R-1 520 Chain
Revalve rear shock
+2 brake lines all around
Denton steering stabilizer
ITP 10x5 w holeshot mx 19x6x10
ITP 9x9 w holeshot mx 18x11x9
cm44 brake pard all around
37t rear sprocket

thats what im lookin at right now. all that is under 3 Gs without shippin and i have 3200 to spend.
Is that everything?

Mostly when i ride its a little jumping a little dragin and little hill climbin and bunch of everything. So i dont really need all out race stuff. Just stuff that gonna last a good long time.

how much are At steelers with the rezzy? i know steelers without a rezzy are 399. Well for less than $100 more you can have elka triple rates with SSD NO Rezzy. Elkas are very comparable in price especially since works decided to up their prices once again.

Scott400EX

these works tripples with rezz are 519 new

Just get the Works triple rate fronts, have the Quadshop rebuild the rear shock, get some Houser a-arms and swingarm, then a lonestar or rpm axle. Then just get whatever else you want or need. You could also get the cheaper Elka's that don't have rezzies and add them later. Also I would get stock honda brake pads too. They are suppose to be better and last longer then most aftermarket pads.

Hey I didn't read through everything in this post so if I am saying something that someone already said I am sorry!!!!! Those are the things you need to make you quad handle very good (not GREAT) but GREAT cost alot of money. The only thing that I would suggest is that you have your rear shock re-vaulved. Mainly so you can lower your rear and still keep the shock ridding in the sweet spot.

Ok heres what i finally descided, the parts are already purchased and on the way.

LSR twin row bearing carrier
LSR antifade locknut
LSR steel braided +2 brake lines
PEP tripple rate shocks with rezz and zps
Denton steering stabilizer
ITP .190 10x5 and 9x9 wheels
Holeshot MX 19x6x10 and 18x11x9 tires

LSR swingarms are junk. I've seen many crack at the races. Go with Herrman or Houser, if you have the money get a RPM swingarm.

Scott400EX

too late already bought. I'm not planin on racing with this stuff i ride hard and do some jumpin, hill climbin, and some MX but i think it will be just fine for the kind of riding i do

Dave400ex
12-04-2002, 02:15 PM
That was a big bill I bet. It all sounds good expect the Lonestar swingarm. If you don't race you should be ok with it though. I want to see some pictures when it's all put together.

Scott400EX
12-04-2002, 02:37 PM
Im gonna post some when all is said and done!!! It will be 3 weeks or so before i get the stuff and then theres putting it together

Dave400ex
12-04-2002, 02:41 PM

Scott400EX
12-04-2002, 02:58 PM
