I have dyno runs on my 416 making 37HP. I have since added a few more things and would bet it is close to 40HP....

I dunno on the 440....

id go 426...440 isnt nearly as reliable as the 426 and the power difference isnt really HUGE..technically 440's are really 435's so its only 9CC's and a TON more reliability

ya that prob. what im going to do because i rather have more reliability then a little more power cause im not made of money and if i ever end up blowing the 426 up i can go to 440 if i want more power

Umm. Let me see here. ANYTHING other than stock is not going to be as reliable! In my opinion, I would go with a 440. I would think 9 cc DOES matter slightly in powerband, just look at cars. The more cc, the slightly more better powerband. A 416 can get passed up by a stock 450, I've seen it happen. A 440 can definitely keep up with a 450, even pass it up, depending on the rider at the track. If you're going to spend the money, why would you go with anything less than a 440?

440 stroker built right will beat almost everything with a good rider. My friends 440 stroker did 86MPH and it go there so fast it was crazy. It would beat 450's no problem but he never raced a 450 with mods other than a pipe and air filter I think he raced a HRC before. But it was fast. The motor didnt last too long though. I myself rather go with a 416 because 440's just arent that reliable. But if you rode a good 440 stroker I doubt any 416 could compare.

A 440 stroker, just like any engine can be reliable if built right. Mine has been as reliable as a stock engine.

Power is impressive. Pulls hard from idle to rev limit.

My quad was dead even with an 05' R with full exhaust, K&N filter and K&N powerlid, HC Stg 1, and a 12 tooth. I have since added a CDI and AMR Coil.

i think imma bite the bullet and just do a 460 stroker..bigger oil cooler plus spal fan....i just need to find a trusted atv mechanic around my area to put this beast together..when the time is right of course..

If you live in Southern California, like I do, go to Trinity Racing in Rancho Cucumonga for a 460 stroker. I've been to their shop and the manager there was saying a 400ex with their 460 kit will have about 60 rwhp. Almost no one will be able to touch you.

I saw the Trinity 460 stroker kit on the internet the other day and was wondering if anybody has had an actual experience with that motor and if they could tell me like there pros and cons...also does the kit come with everything needed and about how much would a shop charge to put it all together?

Actually, the Trinity Racing 460 stroker kit for the Honda 400ex does not put out about 60rwhp. They used to have a 465 stroker for the 400ex that put out close to 60rwhp, but my cousin called them last month and they don't carry the 465 stroker anymore. They carry the 460 kit now, and he was told it makes mid 50 rwhp. The 465 stroker I was told by them did make about 60 rwhp.

I wonder why Trinity got rid of the 465 stroker kit. Now they only carry the 460 kit.
