It was just born this morning. You could see where the mother was bedded down and gave birth. Mommy was about 50 yards away watching me. It was no bigger than a house cat. It was tiny!

I am kind of hoping the damp weather hangs around here for atleast 2 more weeks....hay time = lots of dead fawns if they cut early.

I learned from past experiences that if you touch/try to pick them up they scream loud enough to make you deaf in both ears haha.

They're cute little suckers though. :p

They are cutting Hay here already pappy, so hopefully they will die off. I see 4 or more every night I go to work, and almost always a new dead one on the road. I really don't need that on my insurance.

My buddys parents hit a deer, and behind it was the fawn. They took it home and made it a pet, it grew to a pretty good size, but then got eaten by coyotes one night. It was awsome though, just like a dog, and it'd come running when you called it's name.

Thats real neat. Almost makes me not want to shoot a deer.

So why aren't deer very protective of their young? I figured if they were anything like a lot of other animals and you approached the fawn the mother would kick your arse.

Otherwise that would be a pretty neat experience!
