I Love my 400ex!

Hey guys, I am new here. I have been riding Trikes for many years and recently bit the bullit and bought a Yellow 400ex. I almost DIDN'T go with the 400ex after reading several magazine articles on how outdated and underpowered it is. I found this local 2003 Yellow 400ex owned by a cop and it was basically new. I got it for $3600. All I can say is I simply love this machine! The only mod I have done is remove the spark arrestor only for ear-candy. I do mostly trail riding and don`t jump much (fat guys don`t jump!) I have only had this machine for 2 weeks and all I want to do is ride it! We went riding with a few friends one which rides a 2008 DVX 400 with a pipe. Most of my buddies including myself all dragrace Mustangs together so naturally drag racing quads every chance we get happens. After reading several articles on how underpowered the 400ex is I wa expecting a total *** kicking. It wasn`t till the top of 3rd gear he started passing me and by the time we both let off at the end of 5th gear he was a whole 12 feet in front of me! I am sooo happy I didn`t sheel out $7,000 like he did. I drove his DVX and I find the 400ex is a nicer ride. Anyway, I have been reading up here, great place for good info!

yes the 400ex is great. i love mine. i have mine piped and i can beat the suzuki 400. i beat a yfz 450 yesterday at the sand drags, but the guy riding it was like 350 lol. its a great machine though.

Once you ride a 450, you'll be saying it is underpowered... But then again if all you do is mainly recreational riding, it's (IMO) the best quad for it.... Then again, many people can race these machines, and be very competitive on them.

not only did you save money on the quad itself. but also the aftermarket parts are cheaper and easier to get than most other 400's and all other 450's. you can be smoking that dvx for a couple hundred bucks, if you wanted to

yeah I used to have a 450r sold it 8 months ago and just found a 2005 400ex with reverse and 10hrs on it its MINT!! best part $2,600 and it has a clear title
