That depends on where you live.

Check your town/counties laws and regulations.

It may also depend on what he was pulling you over for.

If he pulled you for speeding, then im almost positive he doesnt have to tail you for a mile...

dude im not tryin to flame ya or nothin, but its really alot easier to read when people atleast use periods and spell somewhat right. im not saying everyone needs to use perfect grammar, but come on. thats why they have a spell check on here now. its gotten so bad they had to put one on here. they use to not have one on here, when it wasn't bad. thats not directly aimed at you, just in general.

to answer your quetion, i think it would depend on your state/city laws. i've personally never heard of anything like that. what did he pull you over for? speeding or what?
