spark comes and goes.....

My sons '87 trx 250x has spark and then it dont. The plug wire looks like a good conection on the the plug end. any thoughts? I was planing to go through and start at the coil and start replacing 1. coil, 2. CDI, 3. stator. Am I missing any thing???

Check the ground wire where it bolts to the frame.As for a cdi,they usually work or they dont,so that would be down the list of things to replace.Also check all the connections from key switch and off/on switch.When it doesnt have spark,what are you doing to get it back?

Yeah, what Dave83 said. I ran into one 2 weeks ago that was doing the same thing, one of the wires in the CDI connector was pulled halfway out of it. Closely inspect those, and make sure none of the wires are broken inside the insulation with your fingernail close to where they bend.

people say the cdi is good or bad but i have had them work on an off before they go but check all the wires, maybe its the fly wheel pin
