Looks great , You wont be dissapointed with your new D.C. Motorsports A-Arms.

Does the 400 EX rear hub fit the splines of the Polaris axle? and what is the bolt pattern of the 400 EX?

Thanks

Yes the 400ex hubs fit (24 spline). Same bolt pattern as scrambler hubs.

By the looks of it you gained about an inch on each side,

nice.

markvette
05-16-2008, 06:37 PM
also if you want more width rocky mountain has hubs that fit the 400ex and they are 1 3/4" wider than stock hubs. if the 400 hubs give you an inch on each side then their hubs would give you 2 3/4" each side. i think they are only about $75 for the pair.

You're looking at the .125" gusset kit from Competition Engineering. I used a lot of these gussets on my drag car rollcage. Each package comes with 25 gusset. Available from Summit Racing for $13.95 + shipping.

That's my luck Gary..... a day late and a dollar short..... I have them coming w/shipping they come out to .95 each. I better start saving those ten dollar bills for Indy next year and quit wasting them. I know a few girls that are working there way through collage and can use the money.

Well it’s Friday night about 7pm…… just got done with what I had to do and getting ready to leave for High Point. From what I hearing Kyle had one hard day. The Honda wasn’t running right and his first time on a real track………… Ooooooooo boy he staled it a bunch. Thanks to Charlie McVay , Kevin Smitley, and Gerry Hixon. They found the new cdi bad and got it to run better. So last I heard he only staled it twice in the second practice and he’s real happy with that…….. And that he was at Dave Carter’s trailer getting his shifter shortened so his foot fits under it better. Poor kid he’s at a National with a direct drive shifter quad and has never raced it before………. Kids got bigger balls than I do. I’m very proud of my little buddy and would like to thank all that helped today. Rumor has it there’s 19 in his class tomorrow…………Oooooooooo boy. He’ll get the hang of it.

Well the frame's done............. hope you like it...... it's going to look wild in the sun with the chrome base coat. I planed on getting more pieces done today but............. I have no spark on the Honda and Missy just left to get a CDI to try........... it's getting late not sure if we're going to make R&D tomorrow or not....... he could sure use the seat time. I think it came out good...... I'm always hard on myself about how they come out...... it's got the normal amount of dirt in it..... lol. no down draft paint booth here pal lol.......

All yeah call the Polaris shop and get the snap ring that holds the steering stem bearing....... it went pa-twang off my snap ring pliers and I can't find it :huh

Thanks.........

Looks like we're going to R&D the CDI worked about 11pm last night.

Yes the oven I build was an old cabnet from a shop at a concrete plant I used to work at...... the working area is 2x3x6 and mini frames fit good..... I've had a Harley Hog frame in it. I like my barn door track idea just spray open the doors and roll it in.

I think their name was Barone. Two or three brothers owned the concrete business. They did our foundation and block work too.

I have a set of thread chasers that I'll use. You don't wanna use taps/dies for cleaning up threads.

Carmen Barone and sons.............I know them well... they're very good. There's Carmen Jr., Joe, Tony, and Michael..... I remember when old man Carmen died I went to the funeral home in East Pittsburgh or East Mckeesport I can't remember...... but it looked like a scene out of the God father..... this hunky boy walked in with a tan pair of Dockers on in a sea of black pin stripes........ all eyes were on me until Tony came over and shock my hand.....lol and all the looks stopped. I've known them guys for a long time..... good people.

If you need anything just give me a call........ there's nothing on that quad that someone on this board can't help you with.

These new a-arms cause the front tires to have too much POSITIVE camber. Even if we adjust the shocks to the softest setting, still a lot of positive camber. Dave Carter, any suggestions???

We put the quad down on the floor and I stood on the front of it and could'nt get rid of all the positive camber :eek2:

The shocks are 10.25" eye to eye. I tried calling Dave Carter all day yesterday but just got voicemail.

If the a arms are for stock length shocks that could be why, because stock length is 9.75 eye to eye. We had a set of a arms that were for 10.5 shocks and we had stock length and they did the same thing.

dwhst9
06-24-2008, 06:59 AM
I spoke with Dave Carter this morning. I'm sending back his a-arms and he's gonna make us another set with the shock mount moved further out and we're gonna have to move the shock towers further out in order to compensate for the longer Works shocks (10.25" eye-to-eye). We think somewhere there was a mix up on the shock length for the 1st set of a-arms.

Dave said his single a-arm sales have started taking off again. He sure does build a work of art. The pictures say it all.

Thanks again Dave :)

years ago i put a set pf plus 3 single a-arms on my sons eton. they were the first set built for 12" shocks. the bottom shock mount was way out there and the shocks were at a lot more angle than the stock a-arms and shocks. i ran this set up for 3 years and it worked awesome. we did not move the top mount.

I talked to Dave Carter today. Good thing I called him, he needed to talk to me and didn't have my number.

He sent me a sheet of paper with measurements he needs to build the new set of a-arms. I *think* he's also making some brackets to relocate the upper shock mounts.

My kid is going crazy not having his quad to ride :eek2:

If Dave can get them done he should be at PVR this weekend...... I can pick them up for you.....or you guys should come to the track and check out the National.

I need to call him myself.... and remind him to bring my stock Honda parts.

He said he won't be at PVR. His motorhome is still down.

What! Motorhome still not fixed??? The shop that "FIXED" it for him the first time should be buying him a new one by now!!!

I guess Dave wrecked his motorhome during the past few days. All I know is that I'm still waiting on my a-arms and my son is missing A LOT of riding time  :(

Still no a-arms yet. Another weekend of riding down the tubes and football is starting next week  :(

I talked to him last Monday and he said he hoped to have my a-arms shipped out the following day via Priority Mail (which is 2 days). I need to get this dang quad back together and get him seat time before we leave for our Hatfield McCoy trip in August.

Ok, got the a-arms back today and the geometry appears to be correct upon initial mock-up. Just need to get the a-arm bushings and have them pressed in. Hopefully I can get this quad running this weekend.

FINGERS CROSSED!

Ok, Dave forgot to send my a-arm bushings back with the a-arms, so now I'm waiting on the bushings to show up. Man, he's having one hell of a month or so :eek2:

I put the stock pipe back on until I decide if I'm gonna mess with the clutching. I may end up selling the pipe because I don't think I want him to have all that engagement for trail riding...could get ugly on hill climbs.

We will be installing a ported 54mm cylinder, 24mm carb, intake, reeds, clamp-on air filter, Hetrick pipe and clutch kit.

I like the Hetrick clutch recalibration kit for trail riding.. It puts alot of power at slow speeds. My sons eton 90 is a trail bike with the option to race on occasion, it looks almost stock untill he raps the throttle open.... HEHEHEHE I used the Hetrick pipe as well.

Do those wheel spacers have the same spline engagement depth as the stock ones? In other words, will I need to get new axle spacer tubes and re-cut to fit or should they simply replace the stock 400ex hubs I have now?

Also, we're hooking up with Final Touch Restyling for one of their graphics kits. I'm not saying which one...it's a surprise lol.

It's stock and fake. However, I have been thinking about making it a working light just for added trail safety.

It would be much easier to fab up a plate that attaches to the handlebar riser and mount two small lights on it.

Waiting on a new throttle cable. The one I have now won't work right (too long and the end is wrong for the carb). However, I rigged the existing cable good enough for me to test ride lol.

This thing sounds like a CR125 lol...damn it sounds GOOD. I gotta bring down the engagement. I've got 2000 springs in there now...gonna try 1000 springs. It sure has some balls now
