Do I need to put any kind of lube on the main bearings before I put it back together? After cleaning they seem really dry and I didn't want to put it back together with them like that. Can I just put some tranny fluid on them?

Coat them with 2 stroke oil. Remember, that's what keeps them lubed when it's mixed in your gas. ;) Same goes for the crank pin, wrist pin and wrist pin bearings when you get that far.

Thanks again Tony. I'm gonna owe you a case of beer before this rebuild is done, lol. Come to Little Sahara in 3 weeks and I'll have it for ya. Appreciate it man.

It should be done IMMEDIATELY after cleaning. You'd be surprised how quickly things can develop rust.

I've seen people wash their cylinders, and leave them out to dry, and they will honestly and actually rust right before your eyes.

That is the smart thing to do, but Wilkin you and me live out west where it's hot and dry, i've left cylinders uncoated for a week or more waiting for a piston to arrive and no rust , I guess were lucky to live where there little humidity.
