Anybody been riding up there in the last week or two? We are planning a trip up June 2-6, but don't want to make the 1200+ mile trip from KS if the dunes are gonna be wet and rough.

I know its been raining tons down there and here in mt. but I don''t have to drive 1200 miles to get there. 270 from my doorstep and I will be there may 31- june 2. I still haven't heard how it is down there but I will see in a few days.

grn99gt, let me know if its worth the drive! I am from Amarillo TX, and have been growing tired of waynoka. I need to hit some new sand. The videos of St. Anthony's i have found on the internet look sweet, but i am hesistant to drive that far.

Good weather for the most part from 5-31-08 to 6-2-08. Wind brought back the smooth part of the dunes on monday was our last day.
Had a blast.

any new reports on the dunes at SA?

I am going there with a large group of guys from June 17th - June 23rd?

Never been to any dunes of any kind before. I cannot wait for this trip.

bring lots o water to drink, Its a blast.

what do you ride?
Bring gearing and jets. idaho dunes are about 4000 feet higher msl from where you are coming from.

I found with my 400 that it liked two down on the front sproket with 22 inch knobbies and 20 inch sand skate II's. Paddles are not needed but you will get around a whole lot easier.

have fun.

Cbrooks, the dunes are definitely worth the 19 hour drive for us. This is the second time I've been up there. We were blessed with awesome weather and smooth sand for the majority of our June 1st to 6th stay.

There is nothing like St. Anthony. I can find hills that my 250r won't climb there. Hit the bottom of the dune in 4th pinned and still don't make it... And you will always be able to find virgin sand. Both times I have been to St. Anthony (not holiday weekends obviously) there have been less people on the 12,000 acres than are typically at Waynoka on any given weekend. After this, Waynoka is about as much fun as riding around in your backyard....

So how far of a drive is it for you anyway?

A couple buddies and myself are going over there tonight. Should arrive by Thur morning and will stay until Sunday. We're coming from the Seattle area.

Will be our first time. Can't wait!

Weather is looking decent for Fri and Saturday. Thur looks nasty though... oh well. We'll be playing the 360 in our man hut. lol

I have been to most all of the dunes on the west including Glamis, and St.A's is my favorite. Bring some ponnies if you go. The big dunes are long and steep. There is plenty of smaller duning for the kids and those who dont have the suds to climb the big stuff.
