I am just putting my motor all back together and was wondering which bolts need loctite on them? Thanks.

Loctite on everything. Every nut and bolt on my whole project has some sort of thread lock on it.....its just good preventive maintinence

Thanks Jason. Do you use red or blue loctite, or does it really matter?

yes, it does matter!

if youre not familiar with it, i would just use blue loctite... dont risk messing up using red...

How can you mess up using the red? Does it create too strong of a bond or something? Thanks again.

Red needs heat to loosen and come off. And lots of it.

Thanks, I'll go with the blue loctite.

The first time you use red loctite in an aluminum case will probably be the first time you pull the threads out of the case when you go to remove it! I use blue for everything on the quad.

I like to spray the bolt threads down with brake cleaner along with a squirt into the threaded hole. Spray both of them with an air hose to evaporate it completely. Now you have a dry and clean surface for the loctite to bond too. It's not worth risking an oily bolt coming loose because the loctite couldn't bond properly.

The only bolts I loctite are the counter balancer retainer bolts! Those are the only two bolts that have loctite from the factory!

I have never had a bolt come loose on any of my engine builds !

actually the tabs that retain the shift drum have loctite aswell.
