You'd have to email Laeger's to see. If you have to replace it there is a good chance you'll be SOL because you'll have to replace both because they don't make those spindles anymore and that'll cost somewhere around $1800 + $200 for caliper adapters.

If there is anyway that can be pressed out and a new one pressed it, hopefully you can repair it.

For that much money, I'd get real creative on ways to fix it. It's garbage now, you've got nothing to lose! I'd try heating it up and then trying to press it out. Machine shop/gear shop should be able to machine a replacement spindle for you. Or take it to them and let them do everything.

Try calling Mike at Walsh Racecraft, I know he made stronger spindle shafts to replace the stockers on the 400EX. He presses out the stock shafts and then presses the stronger ones into the aluminum spindle. Since the 400EX shafts and the 89 250R shafts are basiclly the same he might be able to help you out.

you should be able to press it out, finding a new one to press in may be a challenge though unless they use stock R ones... 800screws has a trx tpin on his zuki, they pressed in the suzuki shaft in the trx tpin

as mentioned i'd look into getting that one pressed out and another pressed in or having one made at a machine shop.

can ya take a better pics from the rear side?

from what i can see from the pics. you'll need to carry that to a machine shop and have then to extract the remainder thats left and then have another spendle made or get another and pressed back in.

You can get a lot of machine work for $850...

From the pic it's hard to tell if it's pressed in there or if it's been machined out of the material, I'm betting it wasn't pressed in though.

Best bet would be getting a machine shop to drill both sides of the broken bit, getting them to put a dowel in there for strength, weld it, machine it smooth and hope for the best. I'd be nervous if I was the machinist though, and nervous as you riding on it fixed like that too, if you landed hard on a jump (assuming thats how you broke it) it could shear off again.

Good luck though.

if the spindle shaft is steel and the spindle is aluminum.....how could it not be pressed in?

Sorry wasn't even thinking that, or realizing that the spindle was aluminum.

The only way I can see them pressing it out is through that little grease zerk on the back, it'll be a fun process without damaging the spindle anymore though.

actually what would need to be done is to extract (pull it out) the spindle. :D

I believe they are pressed in.

You could turn a new spindle shaft. I can help you with people who can make you one.

Thats a pic of mine for sale on Ebay. Right now the whole setup is at $750 but sorry I'm not shipping it to Belgum. I already boxed it all up or I would go see if I could tell if it was pressed in from the front or the back. I would have to say some one could mod a 400EX spindle to fit that.
