How can I tell if my ball joints are bad with out takeing every thing apart?

left the front end in the air and try to shake the tire up and down and left to right, you'll be bale to feel the extra play in the balljoints, you will probably hear it knocking around also, and you can see it. basicly if the nut that screws to the balljoint on the spindle moves, the balljoint is bad

dose it make the quad fell more tippy? when riding it?

No. You probably won't feel a difference when riding - except when the balljoint separates. Then you will notice a difference.:p
