you think you could remove the fiter from the fuel pump and place an aftermarket one outside the tank?

i didnt check and forgot this thread was made in may, but when i read the topic and thought it was new i was thinkin that same thing..., or swipe one of those ltr ones and try it? although then again it wouldnt be hard at all for an aftermarket place to get off their lazy 45535 and make one.....

I decided to go ahead and give this a try:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130249148893&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RCRX_Pr4_PcY_BIN_IT&refitem=130246248881&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget&_trksid=p284.m183&_trkparms=algo%3DCRX%26its%3DS%252BI%26itu%3DUCI%2 52BSI%26otn%3D4

it works, and was an easy install. I'll get pics soon.

need to wrap the filter casing in some sort of heat resistant foam, and fasten it better, but here it is. Rode it for 2 hours sat, throttle response was great, long term testing to come!

so you just got rid of the filter thats in with the fuel pump and now your running just that filter? Might give that a try since my filter is all nasty.

yeah, just totally take it out, i actually pulled the filter material away from the plastic ring its glued to and reinstalled the ring.
You'll see what Im talking about once you take it apart.

Would it be possible to just cut the line and add an inline filter? You can buy those for 2 bucks a piece.

yeah, pull the tank off, the pump is on the bottom.

I've been running the in-line filter setup for a while now with zero problems so far.

The stocker cant be changed. Youd have to replace the whole filter assembly.

Obviously, they dont see a need to change the filter being its in the fuel tank and you would have to buy a new fuel pump to get a new filter, these after-market companies need to make a replacement for the one in the tank, dont cha tank?

I think it would be a great thing to be able to do but what do all of us know, we only ride em?

well good thinking with the filter outside the tank, only one problem.

seeing as how the pump is in the tank the filter only filters crap from getting into the injector but now you have all that crap getting into your pump and might end up having to buy a pump and filter set up, its like the automotive they have a fuel strainer with a fuel filter down the line.
just so food for thought.
