Question for anyone with video editing experience

Video editing is a big hobby of mine and i love making riding movies...with each film i want to step it up and make it better then the last

theres one effect that i cant find on my program though that i need some help with...

watch this video and when it nears about 40 seconds u'll see some white flashes

that effect is commonly used in big production company films, it's pretty mild but it just adds to the film...i personally dont like to over use effects but this effect is pretty common that i want to start using

does anyone know how to do this? if you've done this yourself what do you do? play with the color and contrast of the video? is it a special effect in a list that has a certain name (just the name could help) or is it in a list of transitions? sorry for the long post, i just want to start adding this to my films

Alot of my music videos are older, I only have one from this year.
You should have someone with the cam follow while your jumping on the back of say a Rhino ect.. and get the motion effect rolling the whoops and the air time shots, that would be a nice effect.
I dont work enough with my Camcorder anymore to try any of the new programs I have .
Cant seem to keep a camcorder running long enough to make anything great with. :rolleyes:

just to clarify something, the video i posted isn't mine incase there's any confusion....i found it on youtube but it's edited very well and it has that effect i was asking about!

oh and if i had a rhino i'd use it for that:p lol

if you cut the clip where you want the white flash and do a "fade out" or fade in on the clips you will get that white flash. you may have to lengthen or shorten the amount of fade to make it fit. hope that helps.

thanks for the replies, i'm currently re-editing my most recent movie, mainly because i hate the song that the dude picked out and i want to try incorporating some new stuff...

i figured out the flash thing the best i could, i dont think i can fade in or fade out white with my program, but i managed to play with a couple settings and effects to make it work

i'll post my new video in a seperate thread when it's done so be sure to check it out and let me know what you think

Carpe Diem 4 by Premis Industries.

I think Premis is the best in the business as far as editing goes. I love their choice of music with the scenes also. Its like the song was written for the footage when its all said and done.
