I was told by cutting a wire in the harness that i could gain another 1000 rpm. anyone heard of this or, has anyone done it?

yeah, the "green wire mod" i spoke to rossier or dasa one of the 2 i dont remember which but they said dont do it unless you put a cam in if you cut it without a cam they said you will actually lose power. it is also for the 06 450r ONLY

You dont need a cam to do the mod.

from what rossier told me you do.

it just raises the rev limiter, you dont need a cam to do it

but you will see more gains from it if you add a cam and let
the motor breath better (filter/no lid/pipe/jetting)

if its on an 06+ 450r save up 300 bucks and get the hrc kit

(more power than most can effectively use)

So...
Would this work on my 05' with HRC Kit
Big Gun Evo X System
K&N Airfilter
K&N X-stream power lid
because im savin up some money for some Hipers and dont feel like buyin a Higher rev limiter at the moment

No the green wire mod only works on 06+ bikes.
The reason most shops tell you need a cam before you do the wire mod is because the stock cam is so restrictive that it cant make power above the stock rev limit, so no reason to make it even higher. You will just be revving high and making LESS power.

Totally different wire harness and CDI on the 05s then the 06+ bikes.
It doesn't work because its not designed to :P

The wire can't be unplugged. It has to be snipped.

However -

If you have the complete HRC kit installed, then the wire was removed when the new CDI wire harness was installed. You won't need to cut any wires.

That is incorrect. On my 06, I removed it from harness. There is a keeper on the plug, take out the keeper and the wire slides out. I would tape it up though just to make sure it doesn't ground out and cause a problem.
