just thought i would share this but the police put this radar display in my neighborhood so i decided to use it to test the top speed on my 400ex. i went past it in my truck doing a little over 30 mph and it said i was doing 28 mph so i dont know if my speedometer is off or the radar display but it read 52 mph when i went past it on my quad topped out but thats with a 14t front sprocket and everything else is stock so im saying it does anywhere from 52-55 mph.

My friends 440 stroker did 86MPH. I'm pretty sure the stock 400ex does about 65 +/- depends on conditions.

I have a 13 front and a 41 rear sprocket. My GPS topped out at 53.9mph wide open and that was in loose sand. I wish I could go a little faster but I love the bottom end power of low gearing. My Dad rides a Z400 with similar gearing/mods and his topped out at just over 57mph and it looked like he was flyin' past me.

i dont think theres a camera on it but a cop did show up in my nieghborhood like 40 minutes later so who knows. i think i might put the stock sprocket on and do it if i have just to see the difference it would make.

Most vehicles speedometers are intentionally designed to run a bit fast. The radar units are usually pretty accurate. I compared my speedometer speed vs the speed off of my gps and the speedo was 3-4 mph faster than what the gps read. The 14 T sprocket is what's hurting the top end.

I never thought of using my GPS to clock me! I shoudl do that, I have it in my 2000 Blazer! My 440 clocked at 88 with a 16 tooth

I usually try to ride mine just under the speed of sound, that way that cool noise that my aftermarket pipe makes will be able to keep up with me.

Don't have to worry about cameras cause it's to fast for those.

I got a holeshot yesterday at a scramble, then my new tires hooked up in the hard right turn and I almost **** myself...

I guess I was used to sliding. I went from bald stock fronts to brand new GNCC's. big difference.

my truck is exactly perfect with any cop radar i have ever passed going down the road. my moms and dad cars are the same way. my dads old truck used to be 2 mph off though

That's funny b/c my dad's Avalanche and Camry both read about 2-3 mph fast...so does my F-150. There's a lot of variables though, I mean worn down tires will make the speed read faster, less worn down tires will make it read slower. It can vary, but I noticed a lot of my family's cars are consistent vs. the gps reading. I hear it's for insurance reasons for the mfg that they read a bit fast but don't quote me on that. Kind of a liability thing where the mfg's don't want to be blamed for your car going faster than what it reads.

It's interesting though, in my truck the faster I go, the more accurate the speedo is vs. the gps. Up around 70-80 mph it is within 1 mph of accurate. In the lower speeds it's more like around 2-3. It's kind of nice in a way because i'm always going a little bit slower then the actual, so it helps that much more in the unexpected speed trap.

I clocked myself with my trailtech computer and it said in the top of 4th I was at 60mph... I think its off cuz i have a 13 tooth front... I don't know how to adjust it any help?
