2008 GNCC Racing - Round #6 "John Penton" Live ATV Race Coverage

Here we are, back again at the Sunday Creek MX facility for another round of GNCC racing! This is a well worn stop on the schedule and is prone to suffering from weather of one extreme or the other. The past few years have been marred by choking dust or deep mud and this year so far is fitting into that same pattern!

The Youth riders will be the first to hit the muck and mire' that will be everywhere as the young racers start their race at 8 am. Preperations are already underway to get the machines ready to deal with the wet conditions

Registration was moving along quite well as Woodstock keeps an eye on things

Chris Borich's machine at the ready and out of the weather. Borich and his mechanic are ready to do their best to get Chris on the podium!

Fox Racing working on shocks as the rain started to move back in to the area.

Jeff Stoess and the entire Tireballs crew work non-stop to get their customers ready

The MX track will get a workout in the AM race.....and it will be a bit thick:p

I was trying to get William Yokely to get his kids in the muck for a baby mud race:p

I arrived close to supper time and walking the pits was making me hungry! The pesky flying blood-suckers were out in full force and some smoke was just the ticket to try and fend them off

Tech was busy as usual, and that water truck might come in handy if we can avoid anymore rain tonight. It was raining when I left the track at 8pm

Now some folks come prepared, and then there is prepared!

I traded them a plug for a few pieces of good chicken!!

I broke out my fisheye lens to capture the Can Am rig as it sits on a bed of gravel in the Pro pits. Mulch was brought in to hopefully help keep the area dry. They left a little lake between Borich and Ballance:D

All classes are out on track. Very muddy conditions.

Stephanie Verdeke went around bottle neck and is the first person to cross the finish line. Not sure if this will hold. As it stands right now A. Atwell and T. Cecco. There was total chaos at the finish line. Approximately fifty riders trying to come through all at the same time and the transponder was knocked down!

so the best thing they built was 10 years ago. maybe they should go back to old technology. i cant wait too see the new 09 overhauled heap of garbage that they will try and say is so much better then everything else. just like they said the 08 dnf-450 was going to be so much better then all other machines

ATVA at Sunset Ridge in Walnut Illinois? I didn't see anything
posted at all today regarding any Pro timed practices.
You guys have the best coverage, and it looks like you're
covering GNCC this weekend. Hope you'll be reporting on
Walnut Illinois tomorrow so the rest of us can see how are

That was NO computer glitch. They never thought I would be the winner. so, they sent me and only me on my victory (6th) lap. Thanks to all that waited around for me at the podium!:D I think I'm too excited to sleep now. lol
