I am an amature racer who desperatly needs new tires. Right now I have stock 450r tires on my 400ex. I am going to buy 18" tires. I mainly ride hard terrain mx tracks. Basically all I want to know is how well cut or uncut knobs on turf tamers perform compared to the holeshots? Should I spend the extra cash or not?

Turf Tamers hook up pretty good on hard packed terrain. They are cheap and you can modify them how you want by grooving them.Grooving them makes for better traction by widening the knob spaces. But holeshots are the best all around tire I would think, but they are going to wear out extremely quick if your riding hard packed. I would look into the turf tamers. But if you have a lil extra cash or are willing to wait, get the ITP Quadcross tires. They hook up insanely good on hard, slick, blue grooved tracks.
