so this 400ex i picked up has 18" rear mx tires on it (that are bald). i have some 20" paddles on the way for the 8" rims currently on it for the dunes, and some 20" Dunlop 335's to put on some stock 9" rims i have on the way. 20" is the stock tire size correct? so:
- if 20" is the stock size, and i have 8-straight-paddle tires on the way, will my 400 have sufficient power to turn them in the sand, or should i pick up a 14 tooth for that? i ask cuz i've heard it takes more power to turn a tire that hooks good in the sand.
- the 18's that are on it... i can go thru 3 gears in a matter of a few feet on the road or dirt; i'd like to get another set of 18's for riding a few local mx tracks, so should i get a 16 tooth front if i do? or is this why MX racers use small tires, to have more low end? or whats the deal?
excuse the n00b questions. :D
