my brother is moving up.......

he is deciding between a 2008 400ex or a 2008 kfx450r. he is moving up from a 250ex. we ride sand pits, occansional trails and in a few months when the new track opens mx. he is not really that big of a jumper but still wants a good amount of power. What he really likes is the fuel injection on the 450 but he doesnt want to spend money on a bunch of maitenance.

Will the 450 need alot more maitenance than the 400? how often do you change the oil and adjust the vavles, etc...

any help is appreciated!

id look into a 450r or ltr . the 400 is a good strong quad. the kfx has more mid power. i like my buddys r alot more than the other 450s ive ridden. and its a honda

In the 400 vs. 450... i would have to say a 450 if he is tall and weighs enough.. if hes a tiny kid i'd get a 400 possibly.. but if like u said he wants to race mx.. that 450 will cost cheaper in the power,suspenion, and maintenance aspects.. if he gets a 400 to race he'll want aarms, axles, shocks, and engine toys but if he gets a 450 he might not need the suspenion and power goodies right away or at all.. just my .02

hes 5'9" 130 lbs. would the 450 be ok in the woods and in the sand pits? is his size good for the 450? and hes 15

im 5'11" and 138lb and i like the honda 450 over the 400 i had and the other 450s i sat on and im 15
but if hes coming off a 250ex i would get the 400

if he has the money go for the 450...after awhile on the 400 he will wish he went with a 450 especially since hes getting a brand new quad that he will prolly have for awhile... i moved up to a 450r when i was 15 about 5ft 9 and 120 lbs

im like 5'7 120lbs and the 450 fits me fine and i was 15 when i got my 450r.. belive me if he gets a 400 he will wanna get rid of it in a year i already went through this. the maintenence is not alot, i do the same maintanence to my 450s as i did my z400.

Im 15, wiegh 145 and about 6' even...

I went from a bayou to a 416ex...

I wish now that I would have been able to go to a 450 though. Ive put money and time into my 400ex, and it will never be on the level that a 450 can be taken to.

Get the 450, he'll be happier in the long run.
