I ride with a guy with a 525, and it is a nice quad but he has bent 2 front spindels in less than a year and the if you grab on of the rear tires it seems to have alot of movement in it. Has anyone else had any problems with the spindels, or have any of you noticed the IRS in the back seem loose either in the wheel or suspension?

dude, you have the longest signature i have ever seen. front spindles i have not had a problem with, the rear bushings in the rear a-arms i have. i dont remember the date, but polaris was putting in ****ty bushings in the a-arms before a certain date and then started putting in better ones after that. have him see what the born on date is on his machine and post that.

If it was made before mid march 2007, it will have bushings in the rear, but the second production run, Polaris put in needle bearings, which greatly tighten up the rear end slop.

The way to tell what you have is..........First run has grease zerks that face the rear wheel inside the wheel area. Second run has no zerk there.

Anyway like all said above that is the first I have heard of a spindle going out on the 525, Hitting too many trees??

But on the rear end rather it is the new style or not, the needle bearings should be regreased. Any time I notice any movement in the rear I just pull the loose component rather it be bushings or needle bearings, clean them up well and grease them and no more problems.

My 525 is an early production model. I took it to shop a couple weeks ago for some repairs. My upper irs bushings were severly wore. Polaris extended warranty paid for new bushings but not the updated parts. Also my magura clutch was loosing oil, I guess the slave cylinder was worn already.

I know some people have been lucky enough for Polaris to pay for the updated parts.

Getting the Polaris to pay for the updated parts shouldn't be an issue....especially if the old ones were shot. It all depends on your dealer. If your dealer is willing to put the call into Polaris and play their game, you should get the updated parts......I had an '03 Predator and blew up my tranny almost 2 years later. No warranty, but my dealer got Polaris to pay for the tranny update kit, and he only charged me 50% of the labor (because I helped).

Although I have never heard of the spindles breaking, I had heard that the first run spindles flexed and lead to bearing failures. The bearings are also junk and should be replaced with better pnes that You can get at any parts store. Going to run about $100 for seals and bearings that are good quality.
