I was just reading that you dont want to put a sparks timing key on a 400ex that has a big bore kit on it because a oversized piston can result in overheating. I'm still a newbie to quads and dont no why that would happen and why I couldn't put this on my 416ex...Could someone please explain?

Thank You!!!

as long as you are 11:1 compression, or less...
you'll be fine.

it's not a matter of displacement, 416, 426, 440.....
it IS a matter of compression.

tri5ron do you think i would notice a big difference with my quad with a timing key. i also always heard they werent recommended for big bores but glad to know it isnt necessarily true

as long as your 11:1 or less, your 416 will liven right up with the advance key.
go read my how to here...

416 is not that much of a overbore from stock anyway.

get the key, you will certainly be pleased with it.

Remember, it's not the bore that matters,..
it's the compression.

Actually the advance key along with more compression will run better (with race gas). My buddies friend has a 450R with 13:1 compression piston and an advance key, pure & simple thing hauls @$$.

450R- liquid cooled, extra heat not that much of a problem compared to the air cooled 400ex
