Hi all,

My 400EX just won't start right now. It's only clicking when hitting the start button.

The first time it hapened :

I've been riding today for about 2 hours, I've stop my quad once and it made that selenoid clicking noise like 5 or 6 times then I got able to start it back.

The second time it hapened :

One hour later, I stop it again and now it won't start. Only clicking when hitting the start button. The battery seems fine, all lights are cool... Had to start it with compression method (pushing it down a hill...)

The only change I made is putting a 12V little fan. Before that day, that clicking noise only happened when it was like -30 celcius outside in winter, but after a couple of clicks, I was able to start it. I have unpluged the fan, same clicking noise.

I've put a "booster pack" directly on the starter and it was starting slowly, no click.

I got out my starter and pluged the booster pack on it, it was running fine ( I think).

I have tried the boosting pack directly on the battery, it was clicking.

Someone have an idea? :ermm:

Yeah buy a new battery and make sure your cables are tight

Ok, so my 12V fan may be scrapped my battery. :(

I will try a full charged battery tonight... I may try to boost it from a car.

Use some jumper cables from your cars battery and it should give your battery a nice kick.

Yeah you need a new starting soleniod. , you can jump the solenoid by putting a screw driver in between the 2 leads

It was the starter. I pluged it directly on a car battery and nothing happened. Inside, the 2 brushes are worn.

Thanks for your help!
