starting a rebuild ???

i am thinking about rebuilding my 03 400ex its my first quad and i'm not sure what to rebuild and i am looking to see how much i have to save for it i know i am going to do some powdercoating but what should be done to the motor thanks

alright, well i just did a rebuild, so this is wat i got

07 plastics kit-$600
hmf slip-on- $300
nerfs-$150
graphic kit with seatcover-$120
sparks timing key-30$
PC'ed frame,sub frame and foot pegs-200$
power madd hand guards-$80
jet kit and air filter-$100
total-$1580
and they include shipping, and if ur looking for more motor work like a 416 or so probly ad on $1000 at least, and i also sand blasted alot of stuff and just painted it. hope this helps

i have a ll that stuff on there i just am looking for some ideas on motor work like next year im going to be racing GNCC with it so i need some motor mods to keep up with the 450s heres a pic

well i found with the pipe,jets,air filter added alot of low end power, but the key was the best bang for the buck for low and mid range power, but not as much top end, so if ur gonna be dragin and want to dump some money into it then get a 416,426,440,460, so many pick one of em, hot cams are also good

I say build a 416. They are fast, reliable, and dont cost much depending on what you do. Piston $120-200. Hot cam stage 2 $140. Ported head $200-500. IT all depends on how much and what you want to do.

i am looking to spend about $400-$600 on the motor i race GNCC i was thinking a 416 or 440 then stage 2 hot cams and a mewtter crank shaft then casing and borning where can u get boring done at ??
