changed axle bearings, no chain adjustment?

i chnged my axle bearings in my 06 450r and everything went smooth except when put it back togather and went to tighten the chain, the carrier wouldnt move therfore i have no chain adjustment. and yes i looosened the 4 allen bolt heads on the swingarm. what could be the problem?

When i changed my carrier one time there is a rubber o-ring that was on the stock carrier and i put it on the new carrier and it got stuck in the swingarm making it not turn then i tried to adjust the chain...just a thought check that out...
