I have a nice 400ex that has no motor work done to it, other than a fresh rebuild. I rode a quad last night that supposedly had a 440 kit and I was wondering if the difference would be that noticable. The "440" has 22 inch tires and mine has 18. I dont know if there is a huge difference but I assume there would be. Let me hear your expert advice, would I have known or would it be suttle?

should be a pretty big difference if it has the right stuff. even a decent 440 build should gain you around 8-10 horse thats pretty noticeable when your starting with 27. if it doesnt have the right cam, jetting, exhaust flow, or intake flow you might not notice anything, it could even be slower:( . did you notice much of a difference?

it had a white brothers e series slip on, the same as mine. mine will easily pop the front end up with no problem, this one didnt. Would tire size matter? I'm thinking it didnt have a 440 but im just making sure.

the difference between a well built 440 is enormous over a stock 400. i would not trade my 440 for anything. if you didnt feel a difference it was either not built right or it was not a 440

with out changing the gearing the 22s will slow it down also.

I assumed the difference would be enormous as well, but I wanted to check and make sure. A buddy is buying the "440" and I didn't want to tell him wrong if in fact it did have it. However, I'm sure it didn't now. Thanks for the imput.
