ok i just got a 12:1 piston , port work, full exhaust , esr intake, stage 2 cam. and i think thats it . it feels liek i have to keep it wound up alot , like if it takes off low in the gear it will just bog but right when it hits it takes off , just like a 2 stroke does. i'm runnin a 185 jet and 2 1/2 turns out on the air fuel screw and 2 down on the needle. does anyone else have this problem?

i think you need to take your airbox off and drop your main jet down to a 150 like me! lmao im just messing with you sorry i figured i would just bump your thread back up

IMO the HC2 always kicks in like that.

At least compared to my 02 cam I can feel it when I ride bikes that have HC2's in em.
The bottom is weaker and u can feel it kick in later like a surge.

maybe you need to go up some sizes on your main jet for real because if i needed a 185 with a little portion of my lid cut off, and you have porting and no airbox with a 185 then... but i dont need a 185 im just suggesting that and what does your plug look like?

The hole u have in ur lid vs no lid or the HRC lid should all use around the same jetting.

Once the venting in the air box exceeds the size of the intake boot or the bore of the carb it really won't have any heavy effects on the jetting.

thats new, news to me.. but back to honda4life's 2 stroke problem... is your pilot jet possibly off or needle jet because i know the pilot controls 0-1/4 throttle and the needle is 3/8-1/2 throttle so your main jet is probably whats good and maybe thats why when you hit half throttle it takes off.?

its not when he hits half throttle though, its when the revs increase to a point, then it takes off. so i doubt its pilot or needle, as they control lower throttle level, not lower revs

2 down on the needle is probably resulting in a very rich mixture in your mid throttle position, this will flood your engine for a few engine strokes. once the carb has opened fully and your needle position has no effect, you have a blast of power as your air fuel ratio stabilizes. try going up a notch on your needle to lean it out a bit. also, make sure that your needle jet is installed all the way in, having it only part way screwed in will cause a rich mixture from 1/4 to almost 3/4 throttle. good luck!
